Golden Key Endowment
With a long-term goal of $10 million, this fund in perpetuity, will financially assist seniors who need assisted living, but would otherwise be unable to afford the cost of the Weinberg Residence. Donations go towards the principle amount helping to generate greater interest to allocate to the Home.

Music & Entertainment
The Home recognizes the value of music therapy in the lives of our elderly. On a regular basis, we organize individuals or groups to come and entertain our residents and encourage them to participate. Donations go towards sponsoring performances, musical instruments and material.

Synagogue
The centre of spiritual life for our Snider Campus, the synagogue provides a means for our residents to continue their daily prayer, attend services for all holidays, and to say kaddish. Donations financially assist kiddushim, programs, and items such as siddurim, talitot, and kippot.

Kosher Food
This fund helps supplement the cost of quality kosher food for the daily meals of the residents in the Louis Brier. This fund enables us to continue giving our elderly a variety of fresh fruit and vegetables, soup twice a day, and bagels, with lox and cream cheese, just to name a few.

Special Companion
Whether helping with social outings or providing daily assistance, companions are a valuable addition to the overall long-term care of our seniors. For those who need the help of a companion, but cannot necessarily afford one on a regular basis, this fund provides financial assistance.

Recreation
From outings, bingo and shuffleboard, to cultural events, recreational activities make the Home warm and a culturally rich environment. This fund supports the development and coordination of such programs.

Special Care (Alzheimer’s) Space
Those who live in the Special Care area of the Home suffer from dementia and require a quieter, protected environment with special programs. This fund supports staff education and activities in this area.

Nursing Development
To keep up with the rapid changes in health care practice, our nursing staff regularly attend workshops and classes. This fund enhances our ability to provide superior care to our residents.

Rehabilitation
Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy are integral to the residents’ interdisplinary care. This service is provided to those in intermediate care, extended care and special care. This fund supplements the cost, as this service is not fully covered by the province.

Equipment
This fund supports the purchase of electric beds, specialized mattresses, lifts, electric and manual wheelchairs, walkers and other much needed equipment.

Dental Clinic Improvement
Our “Reaching Out, Geriatric Dentistry Program,” establishes a partnership between the Faculty of Dentistry at UBC and our Home. Dentists, dental students and dental hygienists come and work in our own dental office and provide our residents with full dental assessments, up-to-date methods in geriatric oral care, regular cleaning, and take the opportunity to educate the care staff and companions on helping with oral hygiene. This fund provides financial support of up-to-date equipment, furnishings and material.
